Parking & Transportation Services

Shawn Arruti is the Director of Parking & Transportation Services at the University of New Mexico. With a BA obtained from the University of New Mexico in 1994 and over 25 years of experience in public service, he has held various leadership, policy-making, and training roles. His extensive background includes working with local, state, and federal agencies to develop and implement broad policies, standards, programs, and practices. As a former Captain in the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Shawn brings additional expertise in strategic planning, overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets, and human resource management.

Having joined UNM Parking & Transportation Services as a Parking Enforcement Supervisor in March 2020, Shawn was later appointed Director in July 2023. In this capacity, he remains dedicated to ensuring seamless parking and transportation services for the university community. Committed to excellence and community welfare, he advances the mission and goals of PATS in an ever-evolving campus environment. Shawn oversees integrated operations, programs, and activities related to UNM's extensive shuttle system, parking services, special event parking and transportation operations, parking enforcement, and facility maintenance of UNM's Central Campus parking garages and surface lots. Collaborating with other university departments, he develops strategic plans to ensure efficient daily operations and responsible financial resource management in alignment with university policies and regulations. Diligently upholding University, state, and federal regulations, Shawn prioritizes customer satisfaction while maintaining the highest quality assurance and safety standards.
