Rosemary (Rosie) Dudley is a seasoned urban designer and planner with 25 years of comprehensive experience across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Her expertise encompasses campus planning, city and regional planning, urban design, complete streets design, architecture, zoning, development standards, and design guidelines.
Rosie is dedicated to creating and revitalizing spaces that are aesthetically pleasing and resource-efficient. Her inclusive, actionable approach is rooted in cultural sensitivity, innovation, and authenticity. Throughout her career, she has experience in several key areas:
Campus Planning: Since joining the Campus Environments & Planning team at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in December 2020, Rosie has made significant contributions as a Senior Planner and, subsequently, as the University Planner. She has enhanced processes related to historic preservation, asset management, and space utilization. Notably, Rosie led the development of the College of Fine Arts Framework Plan, the Integrated Campus Plan, and the Humanities and Social Sciences Concept Plan. She has also served as a strategic advisor for various plans and committees, including the Campus Safety Plan, Strategic Housing Plan, and committees focused on historic preservation, environmental design, and public art.
City Planning and Urban Design: Rosie has collaborated with cities and communities across the western United States, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, Anchorage, Denver, Fresno, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Boston, and Spokane. Her work primarily involves enhancing and safeguarding cultural, historic, and natural resources while fostering vibrant public spaces and communities through actionable urban design and economic development strategies. She currently serves as the Chair of the City of Albuquerque’s Landmarks Commission.
International Planning: During her graduate studies at MIT, Rosie developed planning, design, and implementation strategies for governments in Spain, the Philippines, Bhutan, and Turkey. She focused on advancing physical and economic development while preserving and highlighting each region's unique cultural, historic, and environmental assets.
Growing up on UNM’s Central Campus, Rosie has a deep-rooted passion for preserving and enhancing UNM’s significant role in Albuquerque and New Mexico. She is committed to implementing strategies that ensure the University’s continued success and relevance for future generations.
