Institutional Support Services

Jo started her IT career as a developer for SCT Corporation and became their Professional Services Consultant writing custom enhancements for their manufacturing ERP software Adage. Since then, she has worked technical/functional roles in two other verticals: education and distribution. She has managed software development, business analyst, QA, and Support teams in the industry. In her previous IT role before UNM, Jo worked as the administrator and 3^rd tier support specialist for a complex software tool (Optiva Product Lifecycle Management) used by the heavily regulated food industry, at Wayne-Sanderson Farms, the country’s 3^rdlargest chicken product producer. Most recently Jo has been serving UNM as Senior Business Analyst in IT Applications.

At UNM, she has been active in WIT, Tech Days, and NMTIE. She loves working in IT because it is rewarding (she makes a difference by helping users of technology), it is exciting (she learns a lot of new things), and it is empowering (she forges new horizons). Jo loves being a bridge between technical and functional realms. 

She also holds a doctorate in Philosophy and has taught core undergraduate courses in Information Technology, Philosophy and Religion, and graduate courses in the MBA program in different US Universities. She is a published author with two books and a number of short stories and non-fictional writing across numerous genres. Her hobbies are painting and hiking.
