The Office of Sustainability

Anne Jakle has been a consultant and editor for a number of natural resource and environmental organizations across New Mexico. In her most recent full-time position at the University of New Mexico, she was the Associate Director of the New Mexico Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), where she was responsible for program management and fiscal oversight of large National Science Foundation grants that funded sustainable energy research across New Mexico’s universities. Prior to her position with NM EPSCoR, she led energy efficiency and renewable energy portions of a State Energy Plan developed at the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD). As Assistant Director of the Ruckelshaus Institute of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming, she oversaw environmental policy analysis and collaborative decision making work. She has held policy and communications positions as a contractor at the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy and at Rocky Mountain Institute. Jakle also spent time as a Fulbright Scholar in New Zealand, where she studied sustainable hydropower development and earned a Masters of Applied Science in Natural Resource Management at Massey University. She holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College.

In her role, Anne will be responsible for aligning UNM's goals and action plans with sustainability objectives. She will support campus initiatives to enhance renewable efforts, engaging with internal and external committees and working groups to execute strategies in line with UNM's 2040 Strategic Framework, specifically Goal 4, Sustainability. This aligns with The University's commitment to making continued progress towards long-term environmentally focused targets.
