Standards & Guidelines

Standards & Guidelines provide a direction and consistency in our facilities and campus systems. Guidelines provide recommendations to guide project architects, engineers, and contractors, as well as UNM’s staff on campus projects, including capital projects, campus improvements, and any other environmental design elements, including signage/wayfinding and circulation. Standards describe the requirements that must be followed for all new construction and renovation projects. Design guidelines should be used along with the project specific program.

Parking & Transportation Services (PATS)

With over 77,000 people traveling to the University-area on a regular basis, UNM’s parking and transportation system is designed to provide reliable and orderly access to the campus. To effectively manage parking at UNM, all parking at the university is restricted access and requires either hourly payment or for vehicles to display a valid UNM parking permit when parked on university property – including vendors and contractors conducting business on campus. Click here to apply for a Vendor/Contractor Permit.

Planning, Design & Construction (PDC)

Planning Design & Construction (PDC) provides professional support services to facilitate best practices in capital project planning, development and construction on behalf of entities internal to UNM. PDC provides comprehensive guidance related to the institution’s built environment; specifically, strategic guidance supportive of campus master planning, programming, architectural development and renovation, building efforts and best design practices. PDC’s project management services provide comprehensive client support in capital development.
