Planning & Campus Development is charged to perpetuate the distinctive and welcoming campus environment of the University of New Mexico which evokes a sense of well-being, stimulates intellectual discovery and raises the human spirit. Two ways in which we work to accomplish this are with the University Architect (UA) and the Landscape Architect.

University Architect (UA) is responsible for perpetuating the architectural integrity of the UNM Campus. Physical planning, design/construction, architectural style and sustainability standards are promulgated and enforced by PCD - UA with conformance to the Campus Master Development and Landscaping Plans. PCD - UA also administers the procurement of professional design and planning services and represent the institution in physical development matters with the Board of Regents, NM Higher Education Department and the NM State Board of Finance.
The University Landscape Architect at PCD reviews the planning and development of exterior spaces and physical environments of the campuses and other properties of the University of New Mexico. The Landscape Architect plays a major role in the review of conceptual and schematic designs, construction documents and specifications, conformance to master plans and sustainability standards, cost estimates, and quality management for landscape projects.
Landscape areas on all UNM properties are under the purview of the University Landscape Architect.
